Our Story
The Quilt Shoppe carries forward the name and spirit of Mabel & Ethel's Quilt Shoppe, a beloved small quilt shop in Sandusky, Ohio, which served the quilting community for a decade — from 2014 to 2024 — with fabrics, classes, and the kind of help only a real quilt shop gives.
That shop's doors have closed, but its spirit is simple to describe and worth keeping: quilting is learned one friendly answer at a time. This site exists to keep giving those answers.
What You'll Find Here
- Beginner-first guides — we explain terms the first time we use them and never assume a fancy machine.
- Honest tool and fabric advice — including what you don't need to buy.
- Classic techniques with modern clarity — the nine-patch your grandmother made, explained the way you wish it had been.
How We Work
Our guides are built from established quilting practice — techniques stable enough that quilters have passed them along for generations — and checked against the way real classes teach them. Where we recommend products, recommendations stand on their own merit; some links are affiliate links, always marked, and commissions never decide what we recommend.
Say Hello
This is an informational site, not a retail shop — we don't sell fabric or take orders. Corrections and topic suggestions are genuinely welcome: this site works best when it answers the questions quilters actually ask.
